Antibiotics Analyzer
ALEXYS analyzer for macrolide and aminoglycoside antibiotics
- According US and European Pharmacopeia
- One Analyzer for all aminoglycosides
- FlexCell with easy exchangeable electrode
- Reproducible and robust analysis
The Aminoglycoside Analyzer can be used for the analysis of all type of aminoglycosides such as: Amikacin, Framycetin, Gentamicin, Kanamycin, Lincomycin, Netilmicin, Neomycin, Spectinomycin, Streptomycin, Tobramycin, etc.
The system is dedicated to the analysis of these antibiotics in pharmaceutical formulations and bulk products. Aminoglycosides are manufactured by a fermentation process and the main constituents as well as impurities and by-products must be identified and quantified for USP and EP compliance requirements. How to interpret the system suitability requirements and the flexibility in allowable adjustments is in the additional information at the bottom of this page.
The system uses reversed phase chromatography with post column addition of sodium hydroxide for pulsed amperometric detection, except for the Kanamycin/Amikacin, which uses ion exchange chromatography. The supplied FlexCell with its easy exchangeable electrode guarantees for fast and user-friendly operation.
Azithromycin Analysis
- According US and European Pharmacopoeia
- One Analyzer for different macrolide antibiotics
- FlexCell with easy exchangeable electrode
- Reproducible and robust analysis
The macrolides are a group of antibiotics whose activity stems from the presence of a macrolide ring, a large macrocyclic lactone ring to which one or more deoxy sugars may be attached.
The antimicrobial spectrum of macrolides is slightly wider than that of penicillin, and, therefore, macrolides are a common substitute for patients with a penicillin allergy. Azithromycin (Azi) is a semisynthetic macrolide antibiotic. It is effective against a wide variety of bacteria organisms, such as Hemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and many others. Azithromycin is used to treat bacterial infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and infections of the ears, lungs, skin, and throat.
Other macrolide antibiotics that can be reproducibly analysed with the ALEXYS Analyzer are Clarithromycin, Erythromycin, Roxithromycin.
