How to apply grounding in the flow path
Applies to
HPLC with ECD
Summary
An increased oscillation or random noise on the baseline can come from electric sources of surrounding equipment. Such noise is usually effectively terminated by using a properly configured ALEXYS system. However, there are exceptional circumstances where additional grounding points in hte flow path help to get rid of it.
Cause
Noise coming from static charge or electric sources of surrounding equipment, when not properly grounded.
Remedy
Apply a grounding point in the waste line about 20 cm after the flowcell by using a metal bulkhead or dead volume coupler. Connect this metal connector with a wire to the ground pin at the rear panel of the DECADE detector or at the grounding pin in the top of the oven.
In certain cases it helps to connect a grounded wire upfront the cell to the (metal) column, or to the T-splitter when running post-column addition.
