Answer

A data system with a 1 V input (AD convertor) can be connected to a 10 V detector output. No damage will occur. Chromatographic peaks higher than 1V will simply run off scale. This means that only 10% of the detector output is exploited. It is therefore advisable (but not required!) to use the same in- and output voltage.
