How often must I clean my flow cell electrodes?

Electrochemical detection

Answer

Frequency of maintenance of the working electrode depends on the sample and type of analysis. Typically, with clean solvents and clean samples twice a year is enough. This is in strong contrast to other analyses such as urine samples, or nitrophenols or morphine where weekly (or more) maintenance is recommended. It is therefore advisable to run a system suitability or calibration standard to monitor the performance of the LCEC system. Peak heights of such standard should not change over time more than a few percent. Define an acceptable window and apply maintenance when necessary. For cleaning, maintenance and installation of flow cells see manuals.
