Analysis of main and by-products in one chromatogram

Electrochemical detectors

Summary

Main and by-product peaks of interest differ a factor of 100 or more in peak height. Both must be analyzed.

Remedy

In many cases the 21 bit data will have enough resolution to measure a factor 1000 smaller peaks usingthe same detector settings. In case needed, switch in sensitivity (range) using a timetable event with Dialogue software or the CDS (in cases with ECD driver). For example, a part of a chromatogram can be measured at 10 µA and another part at 1 nA full scale setting. An autozero event can be applied in addition to make sure the baseline is nicely in scale.
