The ALEXYS Neurotransmitter Analyzer is a modular system that can be customized for the analysis of specific neurotransmitters. A sensitive method has been developed for the analysis of the amino acid neurotransmitters GABA and glutamate, as well as histamine and several other LNAA's (large neutral amino acids). It has a fully automated OPA derivatisation procedure using an AS 110 user program. Late eluting peaks from the OPA reagent are conveniently removed by an automated wash step. GABA/Glu analyzer can be down-scaled to a sample volume < 10 µL.
For the analysis of GABA and Glutamate we selected the SenCell. This cell not only has an excellent reproducibility but also the best possible detection sensitivity. We routinely inject 5-20 µL, we selected our AS 110 autosampler (standard, cool). We use a 1 mm ID column at 50 µL/min as a standard. A second pump is used for post-run washing step of late eluting substances with high modifier.
