Electrochemical detection
Answer
Yes, the electrochemical flow cell is the wetted part in electrochemical detection and it can be used between pH 1 and 14. Metal working electrodes may have a short lifetime in strongly acidic environment. At high pH the background current will be high because of oxidation of the metal. At extreme pH values, a HyREF reference electrode is advised. An ISAAC reference electrode can be used between pH 2 and 9. It is recommended, to switch to a less concentrated buffer when not in use.
Warning: read manufacturers instructions for pH resistance of other parts of your LC-EC system, such as inlet filters, column and pump.
