Die Methode besteht aus einer Umkehrphasenchromatographie mit einem Ionenpaar und Phosphat\/Citrat-Puffer bei einem pH-Wert von 6,5, gefolgt von einem amperometrischen Nachweis bei 0,15 V. Die Silberelektrode ist \u00e4u\u00dferst selektiv f\u00fcr Iodid, das bei einem Potenzial nahe Null nachgewiesen wird.
